TOP 10 ⏰ SAVING TIPS
FOR YOUR KITCHEN

Observe what you actually cook/eat at home…

…and keep those ingredients on hand at all times, never allowing yourself to run out. Having what you need before you actually need it is a huge timesaver.

Keep a running grocery list electronically…

…however, in an actual app is even better. You’ll save time by swiping to add/remove, and less typing when the app can fill in the items it knows you buy frequently.

Keep an extra package…

…of [just about] everything you buy. Having an extra everything on hand helps avoid last minute trips to the store while cooking/eating.

Utilize drive up and delivery services…

…to save shopping time in and out of the store. Save your in-store trips for items you must pick out yourself. For our home this includes tomatoes and avocados. Just about anything else, we are comfortable saving time on.

Save the handwashing…

…for items that cannot go into the dishwasher—like sharp knives and delicate items. Using the dishwasher for most items will shorten the length and frequency of your hand dishwashing sessions.

Use cutting boards of all sizes for prep…

…to help shorten clean up time. It’s easier to carry a cutting board to the trash with a single swipe, than to try gathering/swiping off of the counter. And, a cutting board can go into the dishwasher instead of wiping counters down.

Purchase multiple iterations of tools…

…that you use most often. Cleaning tools while cooking slows the process down tremendously. Having multiple allows you to keep things moving towards your final product, and focusing on clean up [or loading the dishwasher] at the very end.

Break your prep up into smaller steps…

…to avoid overwhelm around mealtime. Use small windows of time to rinse OR marinate OR chop something for later. So when mealtime comes, most of the work is already done.

When you cook freezable meals, like mac n cheese…

…make a little extra on purpose. You’ll have created an easy-to-thaw meal for another day with little-to-no effort when that other day comes. This includes homemade pancakes and waffles too.

Instead of using exclusively fresh ingredients…

…get familiar with which shortcuts you enjoy, that won’t sacrifice flavor or texture. Mixing up fresh ingredients with some prepared/packaged items helps shorten the cooking process.
